Transforming Dreams into Reality: The Story of Creating a Sustainable Coastal Resort
After facing the challenges of running a hospitality business during COVID-19 and successfully operating The Point for 12 years, Jeremy and Eva began seeking ways to strengthen and enhance their business. After conducting market research, they were captivated by the clean lines of Koto's design and how they echo nature in their builds. Koto's designs reminded Eva of her Norwegian roots, where spending time outdoors was a priority, particularly the holidays spent in the family "hytte" - a small holiday home. Combined with Jeremy's passion for outdoor activities, it sparked the idea of transforming the grass airfield, which was no longer in use, into a resort featuring turnkey, low-maintenance holiday homes.
Quality and longevity form the project's backbone, creating spaces that embrace their Cornish surroundings and prioritise eco-consciousness. Working with the Chelsea Gold medalist Darren Hawkes has been an exciting journey. He was the perfect partner for the project with his reflective and harmonious approach to landscaping. He started by constructing a series of Cornish stone walls totalling 400 meters, snaking through and defining the landscape, creating pockets of privacy and attractive sightlines. Over 80 mature trees have been planted, with more waiting to be planted in the next six months.
The cabins are dedicated holiday homes, allowing people to own a property near the coast without impacting the local housing market. The infrastructure works are almost complete, and there are currently nine cabins on site, with five already sold. A couple of cabins are available for purchase for summer occupancy. Additionally, three more cabins are in production, leaving only five plots available for custom builds.
